Iberojet, the airline owned by Ávoris, and Repsol have signed an agreement within the framework of FITUR 2024 for the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) until 2027. Starting next year, the multi-energy company will provide Iberojet with access to more than 4,500 tonnes of SAF, which will reduce emissions by 10,400 tonnes of CO2 over the entire period.

● From next year all Iberojet flights will regularly use more than 2 % SAF on an annual basis.

● Repsol is a pioneer in the manufacture of renewable fuels in Spain and, enables Iberojet to anticipate the measures that EU institutions have put in place to encourage the use of sustainable aviation fuels.

● This alliance between the two companies implies a commitment to advance the decarbonisation objectives of the aviation sector and become carbon neutral by 2050.

Iberojet’s Deputy CEO, José Ignacio Lugo, stressed that “one of the main objectives of this agreement, which is part of our ESG Strategy 2026, is to reduce the environmental impact of our activities, thanks to the use of SAF in our flights. To this end, we have selected Repsol as our energy supplier, due to its solid industrial and R&D capacity, which gives us peace of mind and guarantees that our greenhouse gas emission reduction targets will be achieved as planned.”

For his part, Repsol’s international aviation director, Carlos Suarez, said “this collaboration agreement with Iberojet continues to demonstrate our commitment to the aviation sector and is another step in Repsol’s commitment to renewable fuels in Spain. With the upcoming start-up of our new advanced biofuels plant in Cartagena, we are ready to supply the sector with the PBS it needs to realise its decarbonisation ambitions.”
