On 10 April, Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) held its first-ever Roundtable on Facilitating Passengers with Reduced Mobility (PRMs) at our Brussels office.
This important event brought together key voices from EU institutions, accessibility and inclusion advocates, and the aviation sector for a meaningful exchange on improving the travel experience for PRMs across Europe.
We were proud to welcome an esteemed panel of speakers who shared valuable insights on accessibility, legislation, and safety in the context of PRM travel:
🔹 Andras Mogyoro – Legal Advisor, DG MOVE
🔹 Michael Harrington – AIRE President & Director General
🔹 Marlena Twardokęs – Manager, LS Airport Services
🔹 John Tangney – Chairman, Tangney Tours
🔹 Isaac Harvey MBE – Public Speaker on PRM Travel
🔹 Marta Rosik – Head of Passenger Rights Services, Katowice Airport
🔹 Daniel Casas Ballester – Accessibility Policy Officer, European Disability Forum
The roundtable focused on three key areas:
🔹 Regulatory developments – including updates on the upcoming revision of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006 and shifting responsibilities under EU law.
🔹 Operational challenges – covering inconsistencies in service across airports, staff shortages, infrastructure barriers, and the urgent need for improved training and coordination.
🔹 Safety and compliance – discussing how to enhance accessibility without compromising safety, and how to maintain regulatory integrity while offering effective assistance.
The event underscored a shared commitment to building a more inclusive, consistent, and passenger-centered approach to air travel for individuals with reduced mobility across Europe.
