AIRE Vice-Chair at the Aircrew Working Group (SSCD)

On 18 June, Elena Jaraíz took part in her role as Vice-Chair representing employers’ organisations on behalf of Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) at the Aircrew Working Group of the Sectoral Social Dialogue Committee for Civil Aviation. The meeting was chaired by Kris Major on behalf of workers’ organisations.

This Committee constitutes the European Union’s official platform for structured social dialogue in the civil aviation sector, bringing together employers’ and workers’ representatives to exchange views on key industry challenges, foster mutual understanding, and contribute to the development of fair, balanced, and effective employment and social policies at European level.

During the session, participants discussed a range of priority topics affecting the sector. These included the current challenges facing the aviation industry in a complex operational and regulatory environment, the continued importance of maintaining high standards in occupational health and safety, and the growing concern around incidents involving unruly passengers and their impact on crew safety and well-being.

The meeting also benefited from the continued engagement and support of the European Commission, with the participation of Héloïse Harraudeau, underscoring the importance of ongoing institutional cooperation in addressing sectoral priorities.

AIRE remains committed to actively contributing to this dialogue and to working collaboratively with social partners and EU institutions to support a safe, efficient, and sustainable aviation sector. The organisation looks forward to continuing this constructive engagement in future meetings.
