AIRE Addresses air transport of musical instruments at EU Parliament

Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) participated in the European Parliament event “Air Transport of Musical Instruments: Rules, Risks and Best Practices for a Culture-Driven Economy”, hosted by MEP Nicola Zingaretti and MEP Matteo Ricci.

Elena Jaraíz joined a panel discussion alongside MEP Marcos Ros Sempere, Antonio Junior Buhagiar (Assaeroporti – Associazione Italiana Gestori Aeroporti), Valentina Scheldhofen Ciardelli (Musician & Advocacy Promoter), Anita Debaere (Pearle* Live Performance Europe), David Grivet (International Air Transport Association – IATA), and representatives from the European Commission. The panel explored the regulatory, operational, and logistical challenges associated with transporting musical instruments by air and the importance of ensuring a culture-driven economy can flourish across Europe.

AIRE highlighted that musicians are highly time-sensitive professionals whose careers depend on reliable and efficient air transport. The organisation underlined its commitment to:

  • Ensuring the safety and feasibility of air transport operations;
  • Preventing unnecessary regulatory burdens;
  • Supporting Europe’s cultural mobility within a predictable and sustainable framework.

AIRE reaffirmed its dedication to constructive dialogue and collaboration on the European Artist Charter, providing airline expertise to support policies that maintain connectivity and strengthen Europe’s cultural sector.
