Fostering Dialogue on Passenger Rights
Representing AIRE, policy advisor Elena Jaraíz engaged in dynamic discussions alongside the Turkish Airlines delegation, led by Özlem Salihoğlu. The focus of the dialogue was on the European Commission’s proposals to amend Regulation (EC) 261/2004 and introduce a new Regulation addressing passenger rights in the context of multimodal journeys.
These proposed changes aim to modernize and strengthen passenger protections, especially in light of evolving travel patterns that combine different modes of transportation. The roundtable allowed participants to share perspectives, identify potential challenges, and explore practical solutions for implementing these updates effectively.
Collaborating on Best Practices and Dispute Resolution
Beyond regulatory changes, the roundtable served as a valuable opportunity to exchange insights on regulatory best practices and strategies for engaging with alternative dispute resolution bodies. Emphasizing collaboration, the discussions highlighted the importance of fostering constructive relationships between airlines, NEBs, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient resolution of passenger grievances.
Strengthening Industry Collaboration
AIRE is committed to working closely with IATA, NEBs, and the broader airline community to drive meaningful progress in passenger rights. Initiatives like this roundtable are critical for promoting dialogue and building partnerships that benefit both the industry and travelers alike.
