Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) has joined IATA, the governments of Japan and Malaysia, and other leading industry stakeholders as a signatory to the Joint Statement released at COP30.
The Statement urges governments and the international community to reaffirm the leadership role of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and to accelerate coordinated global climate action to support the sector’s pathway towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The signatories emphasise the importance of global, harmonised solutions, reaffirming that ICAO remains the exclusive forum for addressing international aviation emissions. The Statement also warns against fragmented or unilateral measures, highlighting that only a coherent and unified approach can deliver effective climate outcomes for the aviation sector.
AIRE stands firmly behind this call. Decarbonising aviation requires international cooperation, long-term vision, and collective commitment. As signatories, we reaffirm our dedication to supporting a globally coordinated path towards a more sustainable future for aviation.
