🔴 Navigating the jet fuel challenge: AIRE on Europe’s energy outlook

Airlines International Representation in Europe (AIRE) is pleased to share that our President & Director General, Michael Harrington, participated in a live interview on BBC this past Saturday, discussing the potential implications of EU jet fuel sharing measures amid ongoing global energy challenges.

During the interview, Michael highlighted the growing pressure on the aviation sector, emphasizing that while operational adaptations can mitigate localized fuel shortages, the real concern lies in the unprecedented surge in jet fuel prices.

With fuel costs rising from approximately $700 to over $1,200 per ton in many regions, airlines are facing significant financial strain—particularly as the industry continues to recover from over €40 billion in debt accumulated during the COVID-19 crisis.
